online04You cannot believe the lies that men tell when they are trying to meet women online.  In the hopes of meeting women, men will spin the wildest yarns they can imagine.  Men lie to either build themselves up or to keep something secret. Unfortunately its an easy trap to fall into.  You think to yourself that you want to make a good impression, so you embellish a few details.  In the back of your head you’re thinking who’s going to know? Its all in good fun anyway.  Right?  Wrong!  Here are 5 of the most common lies men tell to meet women online.

Every picture tells a story – This is probably the most common mistake men make when creating their profile. They will post a blurry photograph or one that is several years old.  First off posting a blurry or out of focus photo will not get many results, and men who lie with their out of date pictures is just a catastrophe waiting to happen.  Eventually you are going to meet someone and how does one explain the sudden change in appearance? The dating forums are filled with the horror stories of women not recognizing the men they were supposed to meet.

Filling in the blanks -  Along with the posting of false photographs, men will exaggerate about their physical appearance.  They will lie about their age, weight, hieight, if they are bald or anything else that they might feel insecure about.  Think about how all these changes in physical appearance are to be explained.

Relationship secrets – Many men who enter the online dating scene have come by way of a broken relationship.  Whether its from a break up with a girlfriend or from seperation or divorce, some men are compelled to lie or keep secret their previous relationship. Then of course there are the “Players,” who even if they are in a current relationship, will lie by keeping it secret.

Expoilting accomplishments – Some men are dreamers.  They may feel that they lead boring lives, so they fabricate tall tales about their accomplishments thinking that it will make them appear more interesting.  Men will lie about social status, employment, physical skills and yes even their romantic endeavors.  Simple everyday achievements will turn into fantastic adventures.

Needful things – In trying to catch a woman’s interest some men will go as far as to contrive a list of emotional needs.  They will make up lies about how lonely they are or how their ex didn’t understand them.  All in the hope of sparking a woman’s nurturing instincts.

It would be great to have an attractive looking profile, but no one is perfect.  The telling of white lies about ourselves is a common trait in men as well as women.  When those fabrications border on exaggeration is where trouble lies.  Most women online are bombarded by the lies that men tell so being honest for the most part is the best policy.
